30 in 30 - Day 4 "Car study in Progress"

8x10
Oil on Gessoboard
Car study in progress

This is a piece in progress!   I started out with an almost black color to help establish the darkest values and aid me with the composition by having just 2 values.  I'm now at the stage where I've laid in the basic colors working on keeping it simple and reading well.  I thought I'd still post it even if it's not finished just to show the process, and so that I stay productive during the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge:-)

Happy Painting!

  2. Hi Anette,
This is looking fantastic! I had thought it was a finished piece in a loose style. Great composition and great perspective too. Have been looking at your blog and am impressed with your lovely style and your amazing ability to paint vehicles (seemingly effortlessly!). I would love to loosen up more but find it so terribly difficult. Good luck with the challenge!

  3. Thank you so much Wendy! Painting cars has been a fun challenge! I still want to get looser and I try different exercises and I love looking at the work of other artists to learn. Colin Page is a favorite of mine for cars. Glad you're doing the challenge too - i will check out your blog!
